Quick Opening Filter Press

The quick-opening filter press is an advanced solid–liquid separation system that combines mechanical dewatering, hydraulic compression, and intelligent control. It is engineered for rapid feeding, fast plate shifting, and quick discharge. With its large filter plate area, compact footprint, dual-end feeding structure, triple-cylinder drive, and efficient plate-shifting mechanism, it delivers both high-speed feeding and accelerated filtration discharge.

Quick-opening filter press is purpose-built to overcome the limitations of traditional filter presses, such as long drainage cycles, high moisture content in the filter cake, and excessive maintenance downtime.

Features

The hydraulic compression system (mobile cylinder mechanism) enables mechanical movement of the steel plates, allowing them to open and close rapidly.
A single main cylinder provides tight compression, supported by four auxiliary cylinders. This design shortens the compression cycle, increases total compression force, ensures more uniform pressure distribution between the compression plates, and enhances the sealing reliability between the filter plates.

The hydraulic cylinders feature a small diameter and short compression stroke, significantly reducing compression time.
The hydraulic unit is equipped with an energy-storage pressure-holding system or automatic pressure compensation, ensuring safe, energy-efficient, and reliable operation.

Materials can be fed from two or three ends, or from a large-diameter feed port, applying balanced force across the filter plates to achieve rapid and uniform feeding.
The filter plate groups open and close independently and automatically discharge the filter cake, typically completing the discharge cycle in under two minutes—greatly improving efficiency and overall production capacity.

With a high level of automation and a PLC control system, operation is both convenient and highly reliable.

Operation Workflow

The quick-opening filter press operates through five major stages, each controlled by an intelligent automation system to ensure speed, precision, and consistency.

1. Plate Closing & Pre-Compression

The hydraulic system rapidly drives the compression plate forward, completing the closing process within 30–60 seconds (compared with 3–5 minutes in conventional models).

High-precision sensors maintain closure accuracy within ±1 mm, preventing filter cloth misalignment and leakage.

2. Feeding and Filtration

Slurry enters the filter chambers under 0.4–0.8 MPa of pressure.
Solids are retained by the filter cloth to form a filter cake, while the filtrate is discharged through dedicated drainage channels.

A dual-feed configuration cuts feeding time by 30% and significantly boosts overall throughput.

3. Membrane Squeezing (Optional)

Inflatable membranes expand under 1.2–2.0 MPa, applying additional pressure to the cake.
This step is particularly beneficial for high-moisture materials such as sludge, reducing final cake moisture from 35% to 18%.

4. Air Drying (Optional)

Compressed air at 0.6–0.8 MPa passes through the cake, increasing evaporation efficiency by 40%.
Moisture content can be reduced by an additional 5–10%, enabling dry stacking or direct disposal.

5. Plate Opening & Cake Discharge

An intelligent plate-pulling mechanism opens the plates sequentially, allowing filter cakes to fall off by gravity or with the aid of scrapers.
The discharge success rate exceeds 98%, compared to only 85% in traditional filter presses.

After discharge, the automated cloth-cleaning system activates, using high-pressure water or air jets. This extends filter cloth service life to up to 1500 hours (vs. 600 hours in standard units).
